Read on to know what exactly happened on the high-voltage drama

The show has been high on intensity for quite some weeks now. Ragini (Tejaswi Prakash Wayagankar) has acquired control over the Maheshwari household and she is humiliating everyone. In a particular scene, Lakshya (Namish Taneja) had to yell loudly at her for insulting his family. The Delhi lad is quite a perfectionist and wanted the scene to have the right kind of impact. Though the effect was good, it made his onscreen wife, Ragini quite nervous and she left him alone to let him cool off.

A source informs, “Recently, while shooting a particular scene, Lakshya was supposed to shout out loud at Ragini. Namish shouted loudly at the top of his lungs, so that he comes across as genuine. Post that, Tejaswi so got afraid that she preferred to stay away from him for a while. The actor also suffered from severe hoarseness because of which he even went to consult a doctor.”

When we contacted Namish, he confirmed that he hurt his vocal cords while shooting. He said, “After pack up, I went to consult a doctor and told me to not to talk much for a day. Now, I am fine.”

In the mean time, the actor took out time to attend veteran actress Poonam Dhillon’s get-together that she had organized for the cast of her show, Ekk Nayi Pehchaan. Namish played her son on the show. Namish, along with Karan Sharma, Padmini Kolhapure, Ankita Bhargava, Karan Patel, Sooraj Thapar went to meet the actress at her home. “Our ENP team is like a close family and we often meet each other,” says Namish.

These dashing dudes have made many girls as well as women go crazy

Christmas is a season for love. Football star David Beckham and Victoria melted hearts with their recent Instagram photo where the two are shown kissing under the mistletoe. Well, puckering up under the plant is a long cherished X’mas tradition as it is considered to be an aphrodisiac. A sprig of mistletoe with the berries is hung outside every door during this festival.

While the star couple fulfilled their tradition, we decided to let you have some fun by deciding on which TV cutie you would love to kiss under the mistletoe this Christmas. From Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan’s Parth Samthaan to Swaragini’s Varun Kapoor and Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi’s Ranveer, all the guys mentioned here are equally desirable and have redefined love on the small screen. Here is a lowdown…

Parth Samthaan
Manik Malhotra of Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan
No talk of kissing on TV is complete without a mention of Parth. The actor has become a teenage icon with his good looks, acting caliber or of course, his lack of inhibitions (read kissing onscreen). We are sure that he rules the fantasies of many girls.

Shakti Arora
Ranveer from Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi
The cute actor gave a whole new dimension to the role of the passionate lover with his histrionics on the show. Off screen, he is equally fetching with his charm and style. He is also a very committed guy.

Varun Kapoor
Sanskaar from Swaragini
The latest heartthrob on the block Varun has had a fan following since his first show. While people are loving his performance on Swaragini, the young man is also wowing the gals with his looks and intensity on the family drama.

Pearl V Puri
Abeer from Phi Bhi Na Maane…Badtameez Dil
Tall, muscular with a cute face and killer smile, Pearl sent hearts racing as the alcoholic rockstar. The actor found stardom with this show with girls loving his pairing with Asmita Sood. The perfect hero material, is Pearl you dream guy under the mistletoe?

Arjit Taneja
Purab of Kumkum Bhagya
He is the perfect younger brother to Shabbir Ahluwalia on the show but Arjit with his classically handsome looks has a huge fan following as well. With a body to die for and a lovely smile, is Arjit your perfect candidate?

The concept of playing secret Santa is a highly popular one. After all, who does not enjoy receiving surprise gifts and guessing who the special sender is? BollywoodLife spoke to a few celebs to find out what they would gift their co-stars and industry friends as secret Santa…

 Aasiya Kazi
Ganga from Balika Vadhu
From my clothes to mobile cover, everything which I wear or carry, Toral (Rasputra) find them shiny. She loves the simple things, exactly opposite of what I like. I would love to ruffle her feathers by gifting a shiny outfit to her.

Heena Parmar
Phool Kanwar from Maharana Pratap
Shraddha Arya, my co-star from Main Laxmi Tere Aangan Ki is very dear friend of mine. She is extremely gorgeous and fond of looking at herself in the mirror. If I get a chance I would gift her room full of mirrors, so that where ever she look she would see herself.

Namish Taneja

I am fond of luxury four wheelers and would love to see everyone driving Mercedes Benz, Porsche or Range Rovers. If I became a Santa, I would gift luxury cars to all my current and ex co-stars.

Ravi Bhatia
Salim from Jodha Akbar
Karan (Sharma) is like my brother from another mother. These days, he is hunting for a house. So to solve his problem, I would gift him a house so that he can settle down as soon as possible.

Karan Sharma
Ayush of Mohi
My friend Ravi (Bhatia) is currently in Indonesia and he will soon start shooting for his international series. I want to give him lots of wishes, strength, positivity and blessings so that his series became a super hit.

Here is  lowdown on what happened on TV this week

The world of TV is an action-packed one. From the Khan extravaganza on Bigg Boss 9 to Mrunal Thakur’s exit from Kumkum Bhagya and Mohsin Khan’s false death alarm, here is a look at what transpired on TV…

Entries and exits

It was finally confirmed that Mrunal Thakur (Bulbul) is quitting Kumkum Bhagya. The actress says she is on a break but there are rumours of her auditioning for Salman Khan’s Sultan.

Veteran actor Rajesh Khera’s slated to make an entry on Chakravartin Ashok Samrat as Devavrath. The actor says his character is as important as Chanakya’s (Manoj Joshi) in the historical series.

Pratyusha Banerjee will turn into a Naagin for &TV’s supernatural cum reincarnation drama, Adhuri Kahani Hamari. She was also seen in a supernatural avatar in Sasural Simar Ka.

Aanchal Khurana is all set to re-enter Zee TV’s Sarojini to create troubles for the lead, Shiny Doshi.

Love is in the air

Abhinav Shukla confirmed that actress Rubina Dilaik and he are seeing each other. The two have worked earlier in Chotti Bahu but were just co-stars then.

The news of comedian Bharti Singh trying the knot in end of 2016 to beau, Harsh Limbachiyaa made a lot of news. However, she said that nothing was planned as yet.

False alarm

Everyone was shocked after a news wire reported that actor Mohsin Khan of Dream Girl fame was dead in a river rafting expedition in Assam. However, the actor assured everyone he was fit and fine in Mumbai.

Telly tracks

Tashan-E-Ishq completed 100 episodes with an on sets celebration. The rising TRPs is a reason to cheer for.

In Swaragini, Swara (Helly Shah) had to leave Maheshwari mansion due to Ragini’s (Tejaswi Prakash Wayagankar) evil scheming. Sadly, even Sanskar (Varun Kapoor) does not trust her.

In Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, it was an action-packed week with Ishita (Divyanka Tripathi) trying to save Shagun (Anita Hassanandani). Not much for Raman (Karan Patel) to do on the show.

Bigg Boss 9

It was family time on the show as Suyyash Rai and Prince Narula got visits from their sisters. Keith Sequeira got a letter from his mother and Priya Malik spoke to her husband.

Rishabh Sinha and Mandana Karimi have an ugly after she accused him of hitting her. Kishwer Merchantt got a visit from her mom.

Mandana Karimi and Priya Malik get into a fight about racism while Rochelle Maria Rao and Rishabh Sinha fight about captaincy.

The best part was the interaction between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan at the start of the week. They regaled the audience with their Karan-Arjun bonding.

Divyanka Tripathi, Rajeev Khandelwal, Shakti Arora or Drashti Dhami – Here’s a look at TV actors who WOWed us in 2015!

Some popular names other newcomers but one thing’s common – love for their craft!

Never-ending hours, innumerable plot changes, tight deadlines and budget constraints, TV is said to be a challenging medium for actors for a variety of reasons. However, every year we see a number of actors earning high praise for their performance. We have tried to take motley of actors from different genres for this year end list irrespective of the TRP ratings of their shows. Here are some of the names…

Rajeev Khandelwal
Show: Reporters
The Reporters actor is one powerhouse performer and he left an impact this time too. As the ruthless boss of a media organization he was bold, brash and irreverent. The actor’s chemistry with Kritika Kamra was also loved by all. Youngsters loved their pairing and Rajeev earned bouquets as unusual.

Shilpa Shinde
Show: Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain
Every actor will tell you that doing comedy is really tough. So, an actress who excels in that definitely finds a place in our list. Shilpa plays the bubbly and innocent Angoori Manmohan Tiwari on the show effortlessly. The audience is gaga over her acting and all that we can say to the makers is Sahi Pakde Hain.

Tejaswi Prakash Wayagankar
Show: Swaragini
There are many seasoned vamps on TV but here’s a relative newcomer who’s made them sit up and take notice. Pretty with an innocent face, Tejaswi has nailed the role of the frustrated, scheming, manipulative and border-line psychotic Ragini with rare panache. Though she reportedly wants to quit the show in search of positive roles, we feel she simply rocks. In fact, so much that people want to get inside the TV and hit her. Beat that!

Divyanka Tripathi
Show: Yeh Hai Mohabbatein
Ideal bahu, loving mother, detective, ghost and now a superwoman fighting off a crocodile. Is there anything that Ishita can’t do? TV shows have convoluted plots and actors have to given in 200% to make them look as believable as possible. Divyanka has done that superbly throughout the year and kudos to her!

Siddharth Nigam
Show: Chakravartin Ashok Samrat
The young man’s six-pack abs, flexibility and chiseled looks made him a great choice to play the young Emperor Ashoka but Siddharth proved that he had the acting chops as well. From the intense father-son sequences to the track with Ahankara (Tunisha Sharma), he’s proved he’s deft with emotions.

Shakti Arora
Show: Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi
The daily serial might have lost some of its charm and intensity due to plots and sub-plots generated to keep the lovers separate but Shakti Arora’s performance as Ranveer/Milan has been loved throughout. We don’t know if the current track will boost the TRPs but Shakti has been the show’s saving grace on so many days!

Monica Sehgal
Show: Dostiyaan…Yaariyan…Manmarziyaan
Blessed with a strong role of a reserved small-town girl wanting to make her mark in the world before getting hitched, Monica echoed the sentiments of millions of Indian youth through the role of Radhika. People loved her chemistry with Arjun (Aham Sharma). The lady is back in action as Bahamani in Ashoka proving that its versatility that drives her.

Ronit Roy
Show: Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar
The seasoned veteran once again stole hearts with his nuanced portrayal of Dr. Nachiket. The theme of renewed love between a divorced couple, was an unique one. Ronit’s sensitive performance took the show up a few notches.

Shraddha Arya
Show: Dream Girl
Some of the kickass histrionics in 2015 have come from TV’s vamps. As the glamorous Ayesha Sareen, who wants all the power and title to herself, Shraddha’s played the character of the ruthless cunning woman with flair.

Ssharad Malhotra
Show: Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap
It has been a year of supernatural, mythological and historical dramas. The handsome actor’s performance as the valiant Maharana Pratap has been appreciated by the critics and audiences. Ssharad’s intensity added the X-factor to the show for a long time.

Drashti Dhami
Show: Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani
She made a comeback on a TV show after a hiatus and boy, what a return it was. Chosen to play the lead in one of most lavish productions on TV, Drashti is adorable as Gayatri, the moneylender’s daughter, who becomes the queen of Amerkot. The fact that Siddhant Karnick (Ranaji) and she look great together is another USP.

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Swaragini, Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan- A look at TV’s Top 10 shows of 2015

$

Here is a look at TV shows that caught our attention this year

Supernatural elements like naagins, chudails and dayans have wowed viewers in 2015 as much as mythological and historical dramas. While shows like Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Kumkum Bhagya and Yeh Hai Mohabbatein continued their glorious run in 2015, there were new shows that made us sit up and take notice. We list out our top 10 shows on TV this year.

Naagin
While one might argue that Naagin came on air way too late in 2015 i.e. November, there’s no denying it’s one big success story. Though the idea of the Icchadhari naagin (form-changing snake) seeking revenge is a dated one, the fresh packaging makes it appealing for both urban and rural audience. The sizzling chemistry between Ritik (Arjun Bijlani) and Shivaanya (Mouni Roy), a gorgeous vamp (Adaa Khan), lavish production values and the intriguing narrative make it a must-watch.

Swaragini
A story of two sisters joining hands to unite their parents, Swaragini started off on a unique and positive premise. It had steady ratings but the makers took some risks with the lead characters, which paid off royally on the TRP charts. Fans are gaga over the histrionics of the entire cast, right from main leads to supporting actors. The high-voltage drama is engrossing too. And the chemistry between Swara (Helly Shah) and Sanskaar (Varun Kapoor) is downright addictive! Don’t you agree?

Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani
A love saga set in the bygone era, ETR2’s first look got us hungry for more. From the grand sets to the authentic costumes and stellar cast, the show was one of the big launches of the year. However, it was a slow starter on the TRP charts despite the presence of the hugely popular Drashti Dhami. The show has gathered momentum in the past couple of months and the makers are sparing no efforts to add romance, suspense and entertainment for the viewers.

Reporters
Rajeev Khandelwal’s comeback on the small screen, Reporters came in the format of finite series. Youngsters loved the sizzling pair of Kabir (Rajeev) and Ananya (Kritika Kamra). While it did not fare exceptionally well on TRP charts, a niche audience appreciated the tight screenplay and narrative, which had a sufficient dose of realism. It was a one-of-its-kind newsroom drama.

Siya Ke Ram
In times of cost-cutting, it takes guts to go all out and splurge on a show. Producer Nikhil Sinha of Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev has done that with his ambitious venture, Siya Ke Ram. The first look of the show blew us away with some comparing it to the trailer of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali! Starring Ashish Sharma and Midarakshi Mundle, it got off to a great start on the TRP charts but has slowed down since then. However, that does not take away from the efforts of the cast, technicians and makers, who have come up with a superb product.

Tashan-E-Ishq
This show replaced the highly popular Jodha Akbar on Zee TV. After a slow start, fans started warming up to the chemistry between the trio of Twinkle (Jasmine Bhasin), Kunj (Siddhant Gupta) and Yuvraj (Zain Imam). The plot has got a lot more dramatic recently garnering more curiosity. Set in Punjab, the story revolves around two people Kunj and Twinkle, who marry in strained circumstances.

Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai!
Inspired by the hit 90s show, Shriman Shrimati, Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai is a comedy series set in Kanpur. It talks about two men, Manmohan Tiwari (Rohitash Gaud) and Vibhuti Narayan Mishra (Aashif Sheikh) who eye each other’s wives, Angoori (Shilpa Shinde) and Anita (Saumya Tandon). Witty lines, epic expressions, superb comic timings and simplicity make it a hit.

Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman
People love mythological sagas on TV as they find them informative and entertaining, especially for their children. Coming from the stables of Contiloe, the show has been loved for story-telling, special effects and cast. Viewers are in love with Ishant Bhanushali, who plays the role of young Hanuman on the show. With interesting stories being told through the characters, there is something to look forward to in all the episodes.

Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan
Though we have tried to keep our focus on shows that began in 2015, KY2 found a place here because of its sheer popularity. The year was an eventful one mainly because of the exit and re-entry of teen icon Parth Samthaan, who garnered a crazy fan following. Manik (Parth) and Nandini (Niti Taylor) got into a physical relationship on the show while characters like Cabir (Ayaz Ahmed) and Dhruv (Utkarsh Gupta) made an exit. Fans are eager for season three of Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan.

Yeh Hai Mohabbatein
It has been one helluva year for Ishita (Divyanka Tripathi) on the show, which is why YHM makes it on our list. While 2014 was all about Ruhi (Ruhanika Dhawan), Ishita and Raman (Karan Patel), this year the focus shifted on Ishita and Shagun. So much so, that we have a new jodi IshGun. From the much-talked about consummation sequence to the supernatural track and now crocodile attack, viewers have been hooked.

Poll Results: Parth Samthaan is the actor maximum fans would love to kiss under the mistletoe!

The Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan actor got stiff competition from Ranveer of Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi

The verdict’s out. Fans have declared Parth Samthaan as the most kissable actor. On Christmas day, we conducted a poll on which actor would you love to kiss under the mistletoe. As you know, sharing a kiss under the tree is considered to be a symbol of eternal romance. We got a lot of votes for the poll, which was not surprising considering the fan following these men enjoy.

It was a closely contested match between Parth and Shakti Arora who plays Ranveer in Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi. In fact, it was Shakti who led the poll for the initial few days. Unlike Parth, the actor has not kissed onscreen so far. However, the romance he stirs up with his eye-locks and gentle caresses makes him pretty irresistible. But we guess more fans voted for the one who is the master of lip-locks on telly.

It was Arjit Taneja, who was at the third spot initially but Varun Kapoor quickly jumped to that place and stayed there. For the uninitiated, he plays the role of Sanskaar Maheshwari in the family drama, Swaragini. His cute looks and intense lover-boy act has been making girls go weak on their knees lately.

Arjit Taneja and Pearl V Puri took the fourth and fifth spot respectively but we feel these two guys have a lot of sex appeal as well. Do let us know your views by posting your comments…

Swaragini: Ragini’s Daadi’s dark secret to come to the fore?

There will be a revelation that will leave Ragini shattered.

The New Year has started with a bang on the show. We saw how Swara (Helly Shah) exposed Ragini’s schemes (Tejaswi Prakash) and rescued the Maheshwari household. However she now has competition from Kavita (Nikita Sharma) who is Sanskaar’s ( Varun Kapoor) girlfriend. She wants to reunite with him and get married. Swara will leave the decision to him as she is his first love. The family will start preparing for Sanskaar’s and Kavitas engagement ceremony. Ragini will help the family in the preparations.

There is good news as Lakshya (Namish Taneja) will start feeling for her and decide to give their relationship a second chance. Viewers who are wondering how Ragini will suddenly turn positive here is some speculation floating around. In coming weeks it will be shown that she will know that her Daadi (Alka Kaushal) was behind her mother’s death. This will break her heart and Lakshya will be seen consoling her. This will bring them closer.

In the coming episodes we will see many emotional moments between Swara and Sanskaar. He will be shown in a lot of turmoil. Kavita will try her best to keep Swara away from him. Will Ragini help SwaSan unite this time round? Fans of Lakshya and Ragini might just see some romance between the two….so it is time to rejoice!

Swaragini: Lakshya to profess his love for Ragini on a romantic evening!

It is time to rejoice for fans of RagLak as the two are set for a sizzling romantic episode

It’s all about love and loss on the show. While the love story of Swara (Helly Shah) and Sanskaar (Varun Kapoor) has somewhat gone off track, the other couple Ragini (Tejaswi Prakash Wayagankar) and Lakshya (Namish Taneja) are busy mending their relationship. On last night’s episode, we saw how Lakshya agreed to be a part of Ragini’s mother’s death anniversary pooja thereby softening her heart. He is also regretting the fact that all the trouble arose because he did not accept her feelings in the first place.

In the coming episodes, we will see how Lakshya will try to win over Ragini. The two will share an extremely romantic moment when he will decorate a room with candles especially for her. Ragini is shown as looking very pretty in a white and pink sari while Lakshya is in a white shirt. Lakshya will profess his love for her and she will be moved. Later, her saree will catch fire and he will douse it. Thereafter, the two will share a tight hug. Later, we will see the two of them coming close and there will be a bit of sensuality in Swaragini.

On the other hand, Swara will sacrifice her love for Sanskaar even when he confesses that he loves her above Kavita (Nikita Sharma). There will be some trouble in the Baadi as Ragini’s mausi makes an entry on the show. The role is played by Sonia Singh. She will accuse Sharmishtha (Parineeta Borthakur) of murdering her sister Janki, Ragini’s mom. This will bring a change in Shekhar (Sachin Tyagi) and Mishti’s life.

The bubbly actress settles down for a small chit chat

Helly Shah aka Swara of Swaragini seems to be born for the camera. The bubbly actress who turns 21 today has already worked for five years in the TV industry. Currently, she’s ruling hearts with her effective portrayal of the independent-minded yet family-oriented young lady on Swaragini. In an exclusive chat to BollywoodLife, she says that she will celebrate a working birthday. However, it won’t be without the masti that she’s kind of now associated with. “I have not taken a day off but I will celebrate on the sets. I have arranged for lunch for the entire unit. There will be a grand cake-cutting celebration too. As a TV actor, you literally live on the sets. I have been with my co-stars for over a year now, they’re like family.” She has also bought two diamond rings for herself and more presents are being planned. When you remind the vivacious lass that as a 21-year-old she has achieved a lot, Helly refrains, “I don’t know. As of now, I want to focus on my show and improve as an actress. The journey is important and I want to grow as a person while on it.” Helly or Swara, as we know her shares her birthday with Bipasha Basu and Irrfan Khan. When we ask her what gift she would like to get from them, pat comes the reply, “I want Irrfan Khan’s capacity to emote naturally and effortlessly and I would love to have Bips’ toned body.” Well said!

This is what Helly would make him do if she had control over the cast of Swaragini on her birthday… Find out more!

The tables have turned…atleast in an imaginary situation! As we know, Swara (Helly Shah) was the recent savior of the Maheshwari household bailing them out of the Daadi (Alka Kaushal) and Ragini’s (Tejaswi Prakash Wayagankar) wicked blackmailing schemes. For many, the most upsetting part about the entire track was how Ragini was making the Maheshwari family members work like servants.

On the occasion of her birthday, we asked Helly that if she had ‘control’ over the cast of Swaragini and wanted them to contribute for a gala birthday bash thrown by her, what work she would assign to each one of them. We divided the departments into catering, decoration, security, hospitality, etc. The actress who is known for her masti was slightly taken back at the question. She replied, “You have asked me a tough question. Let me think. Well, Namish (Taneja) would look after the security, and Sujata (Sonica Handa) and Bhabhi (Parineeta) would take care of the food. Anyways, they feed us a lot on the sets. I would leave the decoration to Ragini as she’s great at it. Actually, she can cook as well.”

Finally, we asked what work would her onscreen husband, Sanskaar (Varun Kapoor), the other half of SwaSan do. “Sanskaar …hmm…I am sure he’ll find something to do…he will be my co-host, ushering in guests and looking after them. After all, he’s my on-show husband; I can’t make him work work.” Spoken like a true blue TV bahu, Helly!

Read this EXCLUSIVE story to know what exactly transpired…

Fan mania can be exhilarating for any young actor. However, there are instances when things go awry. Delhi lad Namish Taneja who plays Lakshya in Swaragini encountered such an incident recently, or rather, it was his manager who bore the brunt of the actor’s fan mania.

A source tells us that his manager was getting calls from an unknown number since some days. Initially, he did not take the call but later after seeing the number repeatedly, he took it. A lady on the other side vented out her anger on him warning him to stay away from her teenage daughter. Shocked, he asked her who was she but there was no explanation from the other end. The lady continued her barrage of words and shut up only when he threatened to take action against her.

This was when, the lady’s stand softened and she said, “Namish, I know you are seeing my daughter. She uses my cell-phone and calls you up. Moreover, she has quite a few pictures of you in her cupboard.” On hearing this, his manager explained to the lady that Namish was an actor and the girl could have got his pictures from the Internet. Later on, he told her that the number, which she got from a social networking site, belonged to him for co-coordinating the actor’s work. The girl apparently belonged to Kolkata and was a regular viewer of the show. His manager told the mother that he would convey his daughter’s wishes to Namish and not to call on that number.

When we contacted the Swaragini actor, here’s what he had to say: “I fell out laughing when my manager (Himaanshu Shukla) told me how he borne the brunt of one fan’s angry mother. The whole incident was so hilarious, imagine you get a call from an unknown number and the lady on the other side starts yelling at you for no apparent reason and blame you for spoiling her teen daughter’s studies. However, I can understand the mother’s feelings very well. She must be genuinely worried for her daughter.” Talking about fan mania, he said, “Sometimes, fans go out of their way to express their love and affection, which leaves me spellbound. I consider them as my extended family and don’t have words to express my gratitude.”

Namish plays the role of Lakshya Maheshwari in the hit show, Swaragini. He is currently shown reviving his love story with his wife, Ragini played by Tejaswi Prakash Wayagankar.

Here is our weekly recap of the happenings in the TV world

The first week of the New Year was a ‘happening one’ for the TV industry. However, not much of it was in good taste. Molestation charges, physical assault and scandals made headlines more than actual TV masala. Here is a lowdown.

Newsmakers
Actress Ratan Rajput who plays the lead in Jai Santoshi Maa was allegedly molested by a light-man on the sets. She apparently refused to shoot till the man was removed from the sets.

Actor Bhupinder Singh who plays the main character in Kaala Teeka was also embroiled in a controversy. He was banned from shooting for three months after reportedly slapping a man, Rajendra Upadhyay from the production team.

Actress Poonam Preet of Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls accused comedian Raj Sagoo of inappropriate behavior at a New Year’s gala bash. He reportedly tried to kiss her but Sagoo denied any wrongdoing.

The Parth Samthaan – Vikas Gupta controversy continued this week as well. Ekta Kapoor’s statement that the two were in a relationship sent shockwaves. However, she later said that she was misquoted.

Pratyusha Banerjee of Balika Vadhu fame filed an FIR against eight men for entering her house posing as policemen and trying to molest her. They were demanding payment for a car loan taken by her boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh.

Entries and exits

Sonia Singh who played Dr. Kirti in Dill Mil Gaye made a comeback on TV playing Ragini’s (Tejaswi Prakash Wayagankar) aunt in Swaragini. She made an entry on the show this week and is already creating problems.

The male lead for Colors’ upcoming show, Krishnadasi was finalized. It has gone to Shravan Reddy, who was seen in Manmarziyan. He will be opposite Sana Amin Sheikh.

Fans of Ravish Desai got a shock when news floated in that he might quit the show, Satrangi Sasural. He is apparently not happy with changed time slot.

Angad Hasija, who is best remembered for Bidaai is reportedly being considered for &TV’s Saubhagyalakshmi. He will be seen with Sara Khan.

South Indian actor Jayaram Ravi has been roped in to play Raavan in Siya Ke Ram.

Rajat Tokas is going to enter Naagin shortly as an Icchadhari Nevla (Mongoose) who will want revenge from Shivanya (Mouni Roy) and Shesha (Adaa Khan).

Some of TV’s loved actors share some interesting incidents related to Lohri

The festival of Lohri is synonymous with the bonfire that marks the end of the long winter nights. It is a big festival of Punjabis all over. On this occasion, BollywoodLife spoke to a few celebs to know their favourite Lohri memory and number…

Suyyash Rai
There is this very funny incident that happened during Lohri. We were living in Allahabad. I was four or five years old then and was great friends with my neighbour, who was six years old. We were celebrating Lohri and I spread out my arms calling her. However, when she came closer I put my hands down and she landed straight on the bonfire. Luckily, the flames had died out and there were only embers. She was wearing layers of clothing and escaped without major injuries. My favourite song is ‘Sunder Mundriye…Tera kaun vicharaa.’

Sahil Anand
aka Dr. Nikhil Malhotra of Roshni: Ek Nayi Ummeed
For Punjabis, Lohri is one the most important festivals and I always plan to celebrate it in Chandigarh with my family. A couple of years ago, during the festive season, I was shooting for my film in Manali, so couldn’t go to my hometown. After packing up, we decided to celebrate the festival by lighting a bonfire. We danced around the bright flames, enjoyed the chilly evening with roasted groundnuts and jaggery sweets. That was one of my most memorable Lohri. My favourite song is ‘Sunder mundriye…Tera kaun vicharaa…’, which means ‘O pretty gal, who will think about you’.

Sahil Mehta
Yuvraj of Suhani Si Ek Ladki
I am not at all religious so I don’t remember doing anything near the bonfire. I only remember that the Lohri period in Delhi was a bone-chilling cold one. However, on Lohri night we could play cricket as the bonfires made the weather warm. It was time for day and night cricket match.

Radhika Madan
Ishaani of Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi
I am a Punjabi girl from Delhi and Lohri is a big occasion for us. Last year, many of my relatives and brother who lives abroad had come down to India during Lohri. We had a huge celebration at home, where we called the dholwala as well. It was a fabulous occasion. My favourite number is ‘Sunder Mundriye…Tera kaun vicharaa.’

Madhurima Tuli
I love the song Lo Aa Gayi Lodi Ve from Veer Zara. Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s chemistry is unbeatable. My best Lohri memories are of my hometown, Dehradun where my relatives would congregate on Lohri for a night of dancing and feasting. At home, I celebrate with friends by making a small bonfire in a bucket or iron vessel.

Dheeraj Dhoopar
Prem of Sasural Simar Ka
I associate Lohri with rewri and gajak, which we get plentiful in Delhi during this period. I am a Delhi boy and back home, Lohri was a night of feasting and revelry. The entire family would get together and dance till the wee hours on dhol. My favourite song is Aa Gaye Lodi Ve from Veer Zara.

Pearl V Puri
Abeer of Phir Bhi Na Maane…Badtameez Dil
My favourite memory is of the Lohri after my sister’s wedding. We Punjabis have a tradition that the first Lohri after marriage is celebrated at the in-laws house. We went there for a full-night party of feasting and revelry. The Lohri songs I love are Aa Gaye Lodi Ve and Kukka.

Namish Taneja
Lakshya from Swaragini
I am not able to visit my home-town Delhi to celebrate the festival for last two years due to work commitments. I remember three years back, I was in the capital during Lohri. It was like a small get together, we all danced like crazy around the bonfire. This year, I am going to miss doing bhangra and binging on rewari, moongfali and gajak. ‘Lo aa gayi lodi ve’ from Veer Zaara is one of my most favorite Lohri songs.

While Swara and Sanskaar are on cloud nine, a bad omen will spoil their happiness

There is a shroud of mystery in the upcoming tracks of Swaragini. We will see this week how Kavita (Nikita Sharma) realizes that it’s Swara (Helly Shah) whom Sanskaar (Varun Kapoor) loves now and he finds true happiness with her. She will be heartbroken but move away from their lives saying that Sanskaar should be with Swara now. She will also joke that she will find a better guy than him.

Then, Sanskaar will go to Swara’s parents to ask for her hand in a formal proposal. Later on, he will surprise her with a romantic date (fans rejoice!). The couple will be very happy.

On the other hand, we are seeing the new character, Urvashi maasi (Sonia Singh) creating commotion at the Gadodia household. She will say she gets nightmares of her dead sister, Shekhar’s deceased wife, Janki and how her spirit is restless. Though the family tries to pacify her, she is not happy.

On the day of the engagement, when Sanskaar is about to put the ring on Swara’s finger, drops of blood from above will come and fall on her. Everyone will be shocked. Lakshya (Namish Taneja) will climb up and see it is from a dead bat that is entangled on the chandelier. However, everyone will take this as a bad omen, especially Urvashi and Daadi Maa (Alka Kaushal). Do we see a ghost track now?
